Virginia Private College Week

Virginia Private College Week

July 20-25th, 2026

What is Virginia Private College Week?

Each summer, through coordination with CICV, Virginia private colleges host daily information sessions for prospective students, including rising juniors, seniors, and their families. Prospective transfer students are also invited.   It is important that you contact each college directly to make arrangements for your visits because they may have some limits on the number of families that can be accommodated at each session and the times for their sessions vary from campus to campus.

Programs will include information sessions about academic/extracurricular programs, the admission process, and financial aid/scholarships.

When is Virginia Private College Week?

Virginia Private College Week is held annually, the third week of July.  College information sessions and campus tours will be offered at least twice daily (morning and afternoon), Monday through Friday, and on Saturday morning.

Information session times will vary by institution, so check the schedules for each of the colleges you plan to visit. While reservations are generally NOT required, it is also a good idea to let the Admissions Office know when you plan to visit so that they can appropriately prepare for the size of their groups each day.

How can I attend and participate?

While you don’t need to register for Virginia Private College Week, you SHOULD register with each college for its information session/tour. Please visit the college’s individual profile on our site to find links to their Admissions Office and exact dates and times for their information sessions/tours.

How are the Amazon Gift Cards recipients chosen?

Following Private College Week, each member college forwards to us a list of the students who visited their campus that week. From those names, we randomly select five students who are given a $100 Amazon Gift Card. No purchase of any kind is required. Your name goes into the drawing for each college you visit. Recipients will be notified by email, postal mail, and we’ll post first names on social media, so follow our channels.
